The email editor is based around the ideas of layout and content.
Layout is where you can define the overall structure of the email, including support for multiple columns. You structure the layout by dragging the layout you want for each section from the "Layout" section of the tool palette. It'll look like this - here we've added a section with two columns:
Once you've setup your layout, you add the content to it - things like blocks of text, your company logo and buttons the user can click. Let's add some text to these columns, by dragging the Text tool from the "Content" section of the tool palette to the column we want it in:
Now we can simply edit that text, and type in what we want to say:
